How can I fix my palm Centro?

I brought a palm centro recently, and i'm having problems. The device works very well, but when i try to power on the cellphone part of the device, it doesn't work. I have verizon, and when i try to power it on, the verizon welcome screen appears but then it still says the phone is off. The only way i can get the phone to power on is if i take the battery out and put it back. Is there anything i can do to fix it? Thanks
